Short-stay; specific validity/stay set per nationality and consular decision (verify on evisa.td). A business visa does not permit working for a Chadian employer.

- Work
Long-stay / work visa (employment)
Long-stay (beyond 90 days); work permit typically issued for about one year and renewable. Verify.

- Requiredno confirmed statutory health-insurance condition found; comprehensive cover strongly advised, and a health clearance may be required for the work permit. Verify current rules.
- Good for
- Foreign nationals taking up paid employment in Chad, sponsored by a Chadian employer.
- Requirement
- Employer first obtains employment authorisation from ONAPE and the Ministry of Labour (proving the role cannot be filled locally); applicant then gets a long-stay visa plus work permit, and must obtain a residence permit (carte de sejour) after arrival. Documents include employment contract, employer sponsorship letter, and often health clearance and police certificate.

Student visa
Tied to the duration of studies (long-stay). Verify exact validity/renewal terms.
- Insurance
- Requiredno confirmed mandatory insurance rule found; health cover strongly advised for the duration of study. Verify with the institution.
- Good for
- International students enrolled at a recognised Chadian educational institution.
- Requirement
- Proof of enrolment/admission at a Chadian institution, evidence of financial support, passport, and a yellow fever certificate; applied for via the e-visa system or relevant authorities. Police registration within 72 hours of arrival.
- Residence
Residence permit (carte de sejour)
Long-term; usually issued for about one year and renewable. Chad has no points-based permanent-residence route and no automatic path from work permit to permanent residency or citizenship.
- Insurance

- Good for
- Foreign nationals (typically workers and their dependants) intending to live in Chad beyond a regular visa's validity.
- Requirement
- Obtained after arrival via the Directorate of Immigration, normally on the basis of an approved work/long-stay visa and supporting documents (passport, employment proof, accommodation, financial responsibility).
- Transit
Transit visa
Short transit only. Airside transit with an onward connection within 48 hours may not require a visa; otherwise a single-entry transit visa applies. Verify.

- Travellers passing through Chad en route to a third country.
