Up to 30 days per entry; 90 days for citizens of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia (incl. Latvian non-citizens). Total visa-free stay capped at 90 days per calendar year. Regime extended through 31 December 2026.

- Online application via the E-Pasluga platform; no visa-support documents needed. Processing about 7 calendar days. Fee approx. EUR 35 (EU) / EUR 60 (others) plus a ~EUR 6 service fee; free for Japanese citizens and young children.

Short-Term Visa (Type C)
Validity up to 90 days; single, double or multiple entry (tourism variant single/double, max 30 days)

Employment Visa & Special Work Permit (Type D)
Long-term Type D visa (validity over 90 days, up to 5 years, multiple entry); work permit typically issued for 1 year (up to 2 years for highly qualified specialists).

- Requiredworkers and resident-permit holders are expected to hold valid medical insurance/coverage in Belarus; confirm the current rules with the employer and migration authorities.

- Foreign nationals taking up paid employment with a Belarusian employer (long-term).

- Employer-obtained Special Work Permit (issued by the Department of Internal Affairs, ~5 weeks processing) plus employer support letter, then a Type D visa. EAEU nationals, Hi-Tech Park residents and some others are exempt from the permit. Stays over 90 days require a temporary residence permit.

Study Visa (Type D)
Long-term Type D visa (over 90 days, up to multi-year, multiple entry); a temporary residence permit is required for the study period.

- Foreign nationals admitted to a Belarusian educational institution for full-time study.
- Requirement
- Invitation from the educational institution approved by the migration authorities, plus consular visa application.

Temporary Residence Permit
Valid up to 1 year from issue (renewable), in line with the grounds; processing about 15 days (up to 30 days for marriage-based cases).

- Requiredresidence-permit holders are expected to carry valid medical insurance/coverage in Belarus; verify the current requirement with migration authorities.
- Good for
- Foreign nationals intending to stay over 90 days - e.g. on grounds of work (with a special work permit), study, family reunification, property ownership, or major investment.
- Requirement
- A qualifying ground (employment, study, family, real-estate ownership, investment) plus supporting documents submitted to the migration authorities; required for anyone staying beyond 90 days.
- Residence
Permanent Residence Permit
Permanent (indefinite, subject to renewal of the document); a route toward citizenship.
- Insurance
- Recommendedpermanent residents are generally expected to have medical coverage in Belarus; confirm the current rules with migration authorities.
- Good for
- Foreign nationals qualifying for permanent settlement - e.g. close relatives of Belarusians/permanent residents, those who held a temporary permit and lived in Belarus continuously for 7 years, former Belarusian citizens, needed specialists, ethnic Belarusians, or investors who have invested at least EUR 150,000.
- Requirement
- Meet one of the statutory grounds (family ties, 7 years' continuous residence, investment of EUR 150,000+, exceptional contribution, ethnic Belarusian heritage, etc.) and apply to the regional migration department.
- Transit
Transit Visa (Type B)
Up to 2 days per entry (incl. arrival day); visa validity up to 1 year; single, double or multiple entry
- Insurance
- Recommendedvalid travel medical insurance is advisable for transit; confirm whether the consulate requires it for the transit visa.
- Good for
- Foreign nationals transiting through Belarus en route to a third country.

- Proof of onward travel - a visa for the destination country and/or travel tickets evidencing transit.
