Rules are written for foreign nationals generally; note that citizens of six neighbouring states (DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda) are visa-exempt and EAC nationals have their own free categories, so the routes below mainly concern travellers who do require a visa.

    Employer sponsorship is mandatory (no independent applications); medical examination with clean bill of health, home-country police clearance, and proof the role cannot be filled by a Burundian national.
