    Requirement
    Passport valid 3-6 months, onward/return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds (commonly cited as approx. US$75/day); extension fee BZ$200 per 30 days for all nationalities (verify).

    Good for
    Foreign nationals taking up local employment or self-employment in Belize (14 categories: professional, technical, general, agricultural, self-employed, entertainers, etc.), usually employer-sponsored.
    Requirement
    Valid passport and Belize visa (if applicable); application via the Labour Department. Government fees vary by category, approx. US$150 to US$3,000/year (e.g. professional/technical approx. US$3,000), plus a separate immigration fee on approval (figures vary, verify).

    One school year (primary/secondary) or one semester (tertiary); renewable for the duration of study

    Recommendedthe official permit page does not itemise insurance, though some guidance lists valid travel insurance; carrying health cover is advised (verify with the institution/Immigration).
    Good for
    Foreign nationals enrolled at a Belizean primary, secondary or tertiary institution.
    Requirement
    Acceptance/enrolment letter from the institution, proof of financial support (or sponsor's bank statement and proof of Belizean status), passport, photos; tertiary students from extra-regional countries also need a return ticket.

    Long Stay Permit (Digital Nomad / 'Work Where You Vacation')

    Good for
    Remote workers and their dependents who are citizens or permanent residents of the EU, UK, USA or Canada, employed by or running a business based outside Belize.
    Requirement
    Proof of foreign employment/business plus minimum annual income of approx. US$75,000 (individual) or US$100,000 (with dependents); police record, bank reference and certified passport copies. Fee approx. US$500/adult, US$200/child. Holder may not work for a Belizean employer.

    Indefinite residence status while qualified; must spend at least 30 consecutive days/year in Belize

    Good for
    Retirees aged 40+ (and their spouse/dependent children) who want long-term residence in Belize with foreign-sourced retirement income; administered by the Belize Tourism Board.
    Requirement
    Minimum retirement income of approx. US$2,000/month (US$24,000/year) from a source outside Belize in an approved currency (USD, GBP, EUR, CAD); recent medical certificate with HIV test. Fees include approx. US$150 program fee, US$1,000 applicant, US$750/dependent (verify).

    Good for
    Foreign nationals who have already lived legally in Belize for a sustained period and intend to settle permanently.
    Requirement
    At least 1 year of continuous legal residence with no more than 14 days spent outside Belize during that year, proof of ongoing financial stability, and no disqualifying criminal conviction (offence punishable by 12+ months). Processing can take 1-2 years; fees vary (verify on the Immigration 'Residence Fees' page).
